Eligibility
The federal Earned Income Tax Credit is a program for working families. A qualified family with 2 or more children can receive up to $4,536. An individual worker could be eligible for a tax credit up to $412.
You may be eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit and free income tax preparation if:
- you have children and earned less than $38,348 in 2006
- you do not have children and earned less than $14,120 in 2006

**The Advance Earned Income Tax Credit for Tax year 2006 maximum credit the employer is allowed to provide throughout the year with the employees pay is $1,648.
