Date:
June 19, 2014

UAC’s Community & Economic Development (CED) Department released their cumulative report detailing the progress of the PHIL-Plus and Mini-PHIL loans. Since the launch of the program, starting in July 2003, participating lenders report 315 closed PHIL-Plus loans and 109 closed Mini-PHIL loans totaling $8,333,823.

The PHIL-Plus and Mini-PHIL loan program helps Philadelphia homeowners avoid predatory lending by allowing those with less-than-perfect credit to borrow money to make necessary home repairs as well as pay off debts. CED partners with banks and nonprofit housing counseling agencies to provide the loans. The Mini-PHIL offers up to $15,000* and is used for basic home repairs while the PHIL-Plus offers up to $25,000 for homeowners who have larger projects. (The Mini-PHL is offered up to $15,000 with Citizens Bank Only)
