Summer WorkReady Star of the Day: Shantell Scott

August 7, 2013

Shantell Scott has been interning at UAC for four years. During her time at UAC, she has spent two years working with UAC Program Partner YOACAP and another two years interning in UAC’s Youth Division department. Shantell is a graduate of John Bartram High School and currently a student at the Community College of Philadelphia where she is an Early Childhood Education major. Shantell’s goals are to beome an elementary school teacher and own a daycare. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping, and being with family. Her most memorable moment at UAC was when she had the opportunity to host the UAC Annual Summer Expo. Since being at UAC, Shantell has learned how to communicate with people and how to get along with others. Shantell’s advice for next year’s interns is “to come to work with a postive attitude and put forth your best effort with everything you do.”

UAC’s Youth Division Summer WorkReady program provides paid summer job opportunities for Philadelphia youth every summer. This experience provides youth with career exposure, resume and interview preparation, as well as workforce skills training and a practical understanding of the working world.
