UAC Program Partner Global Citizen is dedicated to promoting civic engagement, community volunteering, civic responsibility, and sustained active citizenship among diverse groups. Global Citizen brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to build diverse partnerships through serving others. Global Citizen runs the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, the largest King Day event in the nation and MLK365, which promotes year-round volunteer service and civic engagement.

This year, Global Citizen celebrated its 19th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service at Girard College. On January 20, more than 125,000 volunteers and 1,700 projects celebrated Dr. King’s legacy by turning community concerns into citizen action. The Annual King Day of Service drew 5,000 volunteers and 150 activities including service projects, workshops, trainings, a Health & Wellness Fair, Civic Engagement, and the 3rd Annual Jobs & Opportunity Fair, with 20 employers offering real jobs to 500 prospective employees.

Global Citizen’s program MLK365 offers service clubs which provide service learning initiatives for young people. The goal of the MLK365 Service Clubs is to support service learning by establishing student groups committed to volunteer service.
