Campaign for Working Families Tax Season a Great Success

With the help of 700 volunteers, UAC program partner, Campaign for Working Families reported a record 2012 tax season.

The organization completed 13,000 tax returns, the most in a single season. This amounted to more than $22 million in refunds for their clients, who saved a collective $2.5 million by not paying interest and fees that go along with commercial tax preparation. In addition, clients saved more this tax season than ever before with 838 people investing more than $100,000 in savings bonds. "We couldn't have done it without the commitment of our dedicated volunteers," said Khadijah Jones, director of the Campaign. "We're proud to report that for every volunteer hour this year, the Campaign generated $1,070 in refunds." The Campaign for Working Families helps low-income families improve their economic status through financial services and asset building. Call 215-851-1886 for more information.
