This year UAC’s program partner Campaign for Working Families (CWF) managed to score their best tax season ever!  CWF filed a record breaking 14,147 tax returns totaling $20.5 Million in client refunds and $24 Million in fees saved. Their 460 IRS-certified volunteers provided more than 13,000 hours of free tax services to families across Philadelphia.

Campaign for Working Families, now in their eleventh year, operated 12 community-based tax sites offering e-file, direct deposit, savings bonds, and other financial services. Their hard work and commitment to customer satisfaction resulted in more than 50% of returning clients making them the largest and most successful program.

With only 42% of funding dollars available, CWF was unsure if they would provide their services to the community this tax season however their volunteers and staff persevered to make the impossible, possible. CWF’s Director Mary Author believes none of their success would have been possible without the dedicated volunteers and staff. “Everyone took the mission to heart,” Mary stated. CWF’s volunteers and staff made sacrifices to get the task done in order to help those who were in need of their services most.

Thanks to Campaign for Working Families more Philadelphia residents retained their money and benefitted from their services.  CWF plans to improve their efforts even more and continue spreading the importance of financial literacy throughout Philadelphia communities. They hope to continue helping residents make better money-management decisions to achieve more for their families. With this tax season totaling $211 Million in tax refunds for over the last 11 years, it’s no wonder why they are the #1 free tax program in Pennsylvania!
