Don't Miss Out on YOUR Rebate Check:
Where to go in your neighborhood for FAST and FREE tax filing

PHILADELPHIA, March 6, 2008 - File your taxes for free at a Campaign for Working Families tax site now so that you can get your rebate check later.

Under the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, more than 130 million American households will receive economic stimulus payments (also called "Rebate Checks") beginning in May. Eligible taxpayers will receive between $300 to $600 if single or $600 to $1,200 if married filing jointly. Eligible parents will receive an additional $300 per child.

The only way to get a Rebate Check is to file a federal tax return for 2007.

To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of earned income or social security, and file a 2007 federal tax return. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage earners who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment.

You may even qualify for more money, if you qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or other credits.

The locations of all 16 Campaign tax preparation sites and information on EITC eligibility are available by calling the Campaign's 24-hour bilingual (English-Spanish) information line at 215-686-2599 or by visiting www.phillyfreetaxes.org. A call to this phone number, or a visit to the website, also tells you what documents to bring with you to the tax site.
